Business management and administration careers encompass planning, organizing, directing and evaluating business functions that are essential to efficient and productive business operations. These career opportunities are available in every sector of the economy.
Seniors who have completed the prerequisite Business course(s) during their junior year are eligible for this program. Students with a career interest in business should consider this program.

Students take courses at their high school that are part of the program of study for marketing that provide the related classroom instruction needed to compliment the worksite training. Such courses can include:
- Microsoft Office Essentials I & II
- Business Law
- International Business
- Desktop Publishing
- Accounting
- You’re the Boss
- Online Applications
- Business Procedures

Tab ContentThe worksite can be any office in a school, business, industry or retail operation. The employer also works with the school to coordinate the training and evaluation of the students’ job performance to obtain the State Certified Business Certificate.
The student’s time to work is flexible, depending upon the work site and the student’s schedule. They should be employed a minimum of 10 hours a week and should be employed for the entire school year. They are to be paid the same wage as all other beginning employees within state and federal guidelines. The employer also evaluates the student on a quarterly basis. The positions for these students are usually 2-3 hours a day after 1 p.m.
Credit between school districts varies, but typically the student will receive 1/2 – 1 credit per semester for the work experience and the same for their classroom training. All students should receive a wage according to the type of work they are performing.
